A court here on Sunday placed three Myanmar nationals, who were arrested for their suspected link to Myanmar insurgent group ‘Arakan Army’, on a five-day remand each.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Roknuddin Kabir passed the order after police produced them before the court.
Earlier, tipped off, a team of army and police personnel conducted a joint drive in Kainda union of Rajasthali upazila and arrested Jo Su Aung Marma, 42, and Mong Su Aang Marma, 39, on suspicion of their involvement with the insurgent group of ‘Arakan Army’ around 5am on Saturday, said Wahidullah Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Rajasthali Police Station.
However, a case was filed under Anti-Terrorism Act with Rajasthali Police Station on Saturday, said the OC.
On August 27, Ong U Yang Rakhain, also a Myanmar citizen, was arrested in Rajasthali, adjacent to Rangamati-Bandarban border, for his suspected link to Myanmar insurgent group ‘Arakan Army’ following a gunfight between BGB and the insurgent group members in Bandarban district.
3 suspected robbers held : Police arrested three suspected members of an inter-district robber gang while they were selling gold ornaments at a shop at Ramgarh Bazar in Ramgarh upazila on Saturday afternoon.
The arrestees were identified as Hemanto Marma, 35, son of Manik Marma, a resident of Kolomchhori village, Motaleb, 30, son of Abdur Rahman, a resident of Bhuyachhori village, and Mohammad Mostafa, 44, a resident of Bolipara of the upazila.
Police sources said being tipped off, a team of police led by Moin Uddin, officer-in-charge of Ramgarh Police Station, conducted a drive in Ramgarh Bazar area in the afternoon.
Police arrested them while they were selling some gold ornaments at a shop without any documents.
They recovered seven tolas gold ornaments and a motorbike without a number plate from the arrestees.
The sources said they are members of an inter-district robber gang.
Hemanto Marma is accused in seven robbery cases, the sources added.
