Police arrested three alleged muggers, among them two injured in a mass beating, in Torabganj Bazar area of Kamalnagar upazila early Monday.
Police also recovered two light guns (LGs), three rounds of bullet and a motorcycle from them.
Police, quoting locals, said three muggers intercepted the motorbike of Alauddin, a businessman of the area, and tried to rob him while he was returning home from the local market on Sunday midnight. The muggers also fired several gunshots to create panic among the locals.
Hearing screams of Alauddin, locals chased off and caught two of the muggers-Saddam Hossain and Shahjahan-near Taiyab Chowdhury Bridge area in Sadar upazila and gave them a good beating while their another associate-Dakat Abul- managed to flee the scene.
