UNB : An activist of Awami League was hacked to death by his party rivals following a dispute over establishing supremacy at Chatkabari in Salikha upazila on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Jalil Mollah, 50, son of Abdul Gafur Mollah, a resident of Natopara village.
Officer-in-Charge of Salikha Police Station Rabiul Islam said Jalil had been at loggerheads over establishing dominance in the area with his party rivals.
On Friday night, supporters of Jalil locked into an altercation with their rivals over a trifling matter.
At one stage, they hacked Jalil with sharp weapons around 8pm, leaving him dead on the spot.
Later, police picked up a man from the spot in connection with the incident.
