3 activists of HuT held, another 4 taken on remand

Detective Branch of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) detained three activists of Hizbut-Tahrir while they were distributing their leaflets at Stadium Market area in the city on Tuesday night .
The arrested were identified as Mohammad Ismail Hossain, 25, a student of International Islami University, Chittagong, Amiruzzaman Parvez, 35, a former student of govt. City College and Nazmul Huda, 25, a MBA student of BGC Trust University.
Additional Deputy Commissioner AAM Humayun Kabir told the newsmen that police arrested 3 members of the banned Islamist organization in the port city while they were distributing leaflets at the Stadium Market area at 11 pm last night.
Arrested men are the members of banned Islamic outfit Hizbut Tahirir.
Meanwhile a Chittagong court on Wednesday granted three-day remand to another four suspected members of banned militant outfit Hizbut Tahir in a case filed under the Anti-terrorism Act.
The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmul Hossain Chowdhury, granted the three-day remand to each one of them after the investigation officer prayed for a 10-day remand in a case filed under the Anti-terrorism Act with Panchlaish thana, court sources said.
The alleged Hizbut Tahir members were identified as Foysal Bin Aziz, 24, Sultan Mohammad Khan, 29, Ariful Islam, 24 and Fakhrul Abedin, 26.
A team of Bakalia police arrested Aziz for his suspicious movement from Kolpolok Residential area under Bakalia thana and later, based on information provided by him, police arrested the three others from Mehidibag area under Panchlaish thana in the city.Later, police recovered some Jihadi books, leaflets and press releases from their possessionand a case was filed under the Anti-terrorism Act with Panchlaish thana of CMP.
