A court here on Friday placed Rumana Akhter Mitu, estranged 2nd wife of officer-in-charge (OC) of Gabtali Police Station who allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself on Wednesday, on a
five-day remand in a case filed over the incident.
The court passed the order after the Detective Branch (DB) of police produced Rumana before it in the afternoon seeking a 10-day remand, said Inspector (investigation) of the police station Nuruzzaman.
OC ANM Abdullah Al Hasan allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of his residence on Wednesday morning. His 1st wife Sultana Razia filed a case against his 2nd wife Mitu with the police station on Wednesday night for provoking him to commit suicide. The DB team arrested Mitu and his father from Pabna on Thursday. The court also sent her father to jail, said the inspector. The hanging body of OC Hasan was found at his residence at Thana Chattar around 9:30 am on Wednesday. OC Hasan used to live in his house alone while his first wife Razia along with two children used to live in Rajshahi.
