2nd South Asian Unified Cricket kicks-off tomorrow

The 2nd South Asian Unified Cricket Tournament, for mixed team of intellectually disabled and normal cricketers, organized by Special Olympics, Bangladesh (SOB), will begin tomorrow (Thursday) at BKSP ground on Savar.
Six teams from four countries, two each teams from India and hosts Bangladesh and one each team from Pakistan and Sri Lanka will compete in the four-day 20 over-a-side match.
Minister for Roads and Bridges and general secretary of Awami League Obaidul Qauder will inaugurate the meet Wednesday afternoon at the Khan Sahed Oslam Ali Stadium in Fatullah although the competition begins on Thursday at BKSP. The opening ceremony was followed by an exhibition cricket match.
Chairman of Special Olympics Bangladesh (SOB) Dr Shamim Motin Chowdhury disclosed this at a press conference at the BOA auditorium here on Tuesday. Former chairman of SOB Ashraf-ud Dowla, SOB National Director Faruqul Islam, Quamrunnahar Dana also spoke on the occasion.
The eleven-member squad of a team must be comprises with six intellectually disable cricketers along side five normal players.
All the foreign teams already arrived in the capital to participate in the 2nd version of the meet and they are residing at BKSP in Savar.
In the first South Asian Unified Cricket held in Bangladesh in 2014, India became champions and Bangladesh finished runners-up.
