The second round of the International Leadership Program on Education (ILPE), dubbed as ‘Intensive Leadership Training Round’, specifically comprising of the students of Bangladesh Cadet Colleges was held at two different venues on Sunday.
Thousands of cadets who are currently prosecuting their studies in the cadet colleges of Bangladesh took part in the preliminary round of ILPE on 23 last month. The best candidates were selected from among this gigantic pool of students for the next round. On the event day, at first, the students went to the American Centre. There, they were exposed to a unique American environment and were asked to participate in a group discussion on selected topics. The students interacted with the session coordinators of GILC.
Besides, the officials from the American Centre also had an effective conversation with both the cadets and their teachers about the opportunities the American Centre can render to these students for their furtherance and excellence in education. Then, the students and the teachers arrived at the United International University, Bangladesh.
The chief guest for this section of the event was ambassador of Vietnam to Bangladesh Tran Van Khoa with Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman, Vice Chancellor, United International University as special guest. Mentionable that, a segment was arranged where ambassador of Vietnam was able to meet with the Cadets and share his perspectives.
He said, “I am pleased to see the efforts made by GEIST International Foundation and GEIST Innovation and Leadership Centre for its unique International Leadership Program on Education. By dint of such a program, 8 Bangladeshi students will visit Vietnam in order to compete in an International English Language. The government of Vietnam has been providing scholarships to Bangladeshi students so that they can prosecute their higher studies in the celebrated universities of Vietnam.”
After observing the prospects and activities of the ILPE program, ambassador of Vietnam remarked that, “Such initiatives will go a long way to inspire the students and the Vietnam would definitely like to collaborate with GEIST International Foundation and GEIST Innovation and Leadership Centre in such international student exchange programs”.
Vice Chancellor of United International University, Bangladesh said during his speech, “We are observing a shift where the world is excitingly getting dependent on Knowledge Based Resources. Education, merit, innovation are now the most valuable of all the available resources.
Ours is a country of almost 20 crore people and almost 60 percent of which are under the shadows of illiteracy. Therefore, in such an era, true leaders, accoutred with deep knowledge will be able to become skilled human resources who can ensure the development of the country.” He further added that,
“I am delighted to see the initiative undertaken by GEIST in introducing and culturing STEM education in our country.”
After this segment, the students participated in an examination of a duration of one and a half hours which tested their listening, writing and critical thinking skills.
