No spontaneous response witnessed in the second phase hartal call of Jamaat -Shibir in the port city yesterday .
Dilly -dally hartal of Jamaat-Shibir in the port city passed off peacefully without any major incidents yesterday amid dazzling in the city from Saturday night.
Jamaat-e-islami called 24-hours hartal from yesterday morning . Jamaat-e-Islami called this 24 hours hartal across the country from early 6 am protesting the appeal verdict of Supreme Court against Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Saidee who is now under custody of jail for his life term imprisonment on crime over humanity and war crimes but no hard impact of hartal is witnessed in the city. No hartal picketers seen anywhere in the city .
All types of light vehicles, rickshaws, city buses seen plying in the city but heavy transports like transport trucks and lorries went off roads. Private cars and taxis are not visible in the road. The inter-district passenger buses remain stranded in the terminals. The trains left Chittagong to other destinations without any obstructions.
Loading, unloading in port remained normal but no consignment delivered outside the port areas.
All educational institutions remained closed but mills , factories remained opened during the hartal day, different sources said. All kitchen markets, maximum posh markets remained open from 10 am.
