2nd consignment of vaccine arrive in country

The second consignment of 2 million doses of coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine from the Serum Institute of India arrived in the country on Monday night (February 22).
A SpiceJet flight from Mumbai with 2 million doses of vaccine landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 11:10 pm.
It is to be noted that 30 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been purchased from the Seram Institute of India. 5 million doses already came to the country in the first phase.
As per the agreement between the Government of Bangladesh, Beximco Pharma and the Seram Institute of India, the government is buying 30 million vaccines from the Seram Institute. Beximco has been working as a vaccine supplier.
On January 25, the first consignment of 5 million vaccines arrived in the country. Earlier, 2 million vaccines came to the country as a gift from India.
On January 27 this year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Virtual Vaccination Campaign from Ganabhaban in the capital. The Covid-19 vaccination program was inaugurated with the vaccine roll-out to nurse Runu Beronica Costa at Kurmitola General Hospital.
