The second post-mortem report revealed some bruises on the body of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Assistant Secretary Diaz Irfan Chowdhury, who was previously believed to have committed suicide.
“There was injury mark on the body, but we can’t disclose details at this point,” Dr Sohel Mahmud, Head of Forensic Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), told the reporters while replying to the query whether they found any injury mark on the body of Diaz, also a former joint secretary of Chittagong University BCL unit.
Sohel, also head of the three-member medical board formed for conducting Diaz’s fresh autopsy, said, “We will prepare our viscera reports after testing his teeth, neck tissue in a couple of days.”
Before submitting the report, the team will also visit the spot where he was found dead and also talk to the doctors who had earlier conducted Diaz’s first post-mortem, he said.
Diaz’s body was exhumed on Saturday for a second post-mortem examination as ordered by a Chittagong court on December 6.
Diaz was found dead at his flat near the Chittagong University’s Gate No. 2 on November 20. His family and BCL activists claimed he was murdered by his rivals.
Earlier, the first autopsy report, which said Diaz had killed himself, was rejected by his family members and demanded another post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
