State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Friday said 20 lakh youths in the country will be employed in the IT sector in the next five years.
“Youths constitute 70 percent of the total population in Bangladesh. We are planning to turn this youth forces into human resources through providing training on ICT,” he told the foundation stone laying function of Sheikh Kamal IT Training and incubation Centre here.
Palak said the young generations have to achieve IT knowledge To turn themselves into competent workforce to supplement the government efforts of building a prosperous country.
“In the past 20 years, labour-incentive economy has dominated in Bangladesh. But now we have to transform it into a knowledge- based economy by creating skilled manpower,” he added.
Local Lawmaker Md Shafiqul Islam Shimul, Secretary of ICT Division Shyam Sundar Sikder and Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) Hosne Ara Begum, among others, addressed the function with Deputy Secretary Md Khalilur Rahman in the chair.
Sheikh Kamal IT Training and incubation Centre will be set up on 2.5 acres of land involving Taka 9.13 crore in old Jailkhana Bhaban area at Natore.
