The 29th National Poetry Festival is going to start from today(February 1) at Central Library of Dhaka University premises. The two -day festival will feature recitation, seminars and musical soiree. The festival has been organised by the Jatiya Kabita Parishad, with the slogan “Jago Somvabonay, Jago Kabitay”. Hundreds of prominent poets and cultural personalities from both home and abroad will take part at the festival.
Eminent poet, novelist and playwright Syed Shamsul Haq will inaugurate the festival on February 1 at 10am 1 at the premises of Central Library of Dhaka University. Veteran Poet Habibullah Shirazi will preside over the programme. On the occasion of the poetry festival, the organisers arranged a press conference at Dhaka Reporter Unity, Segunbagicha on January 30. Poet Habibullah Shirazi, president of the Jatiya Kabita Parishad; Presidium member of the National Poetry Council and Convener of Festival Committee poet Muhammad Samad; joint general secretary of National Poetry Council Tarik Sujat; rhymester and general secretary of National Poetry Council Aslam Sani; poet Kazi Rosy and many others were present at the seminar. Around fifty Indian poets will take part at the festival. Several foreign poets from Malaysia, Sweden, Denmark, Ecuador, Belgium, Switzerland, US and China will also be present at the festival.
