The government has allotted over2989 metric tonnes of rice for distribution among 2, 43,460 VGF cardholders in nine upazilas and two pourasabhas of the district on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
Khulna District Relief and Disaster Management officials said 341.45 metric tonnes of rice would be distributed among 34,145 cardholders of Dakop upazila, 309.96 tonnes among 30,906 cardholders of Batiaghata upazila, 179.51 tonnes among 17,951 cardholders of Dighalia upazila, 273.48 tonnes among 27,348 cardholders of Rupsha upazila, 111.96 tonnes among 11196 cardholders of Phultala upazila, 107.87 tonnes among 10,787 cardholders of Koyra upazila, 136.46 tonnes among 13,646 cardholders of Paikgachha upazila, 709.45 tonnes among 70,945 cardholders of Terokhada upazila and 202.84 tonnes among 20,284 cardholders of Dumuria upazila.
Besides, over 308 tonnes of rice would be distributed among 3081 cardholders in Chalna Pourasabha and over 308 tonnes rice in Paikgachha Pourasabha.
District Relief and Disaster Management Officer AKM Mannan said that the rice distribution is expected to start on Monday and would be completed before Eid-ul-Azha.
