Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Detective Branch (DB) of Police in separate anti-narcotics drives recovered around 19,000 pieces of yaba pills and contraband items from Saturday morning to Sunday morning.
The law enforcing agencies also arrested at least 29 drug traders on charges of selling and consuming drugs in the city, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman. The Detective Branch in association with members of local police stations of the city carried out the drives separately starting from 6:00am on Saturday.
Besides the huge number of yaba pills, about 155.5 grams of heroin, 21kgs of hemp, eight pieces of injections were recovered. A total of 21 cases have been filed with different police stations under Narcotics Control Act, the DC added.
