Chittagong district police in a series of drives detained 29 activists of BNP-Jamaat from different upazilas of the district on thursday night and early yesterday.
Naimul Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district said they detained 29 activists at various places ofMirsari, Sitakunda, Lohagara and Satkhania Upazilas on Thursday night and early yesterday.
Among the detainees, 13 were Jamaat activists, four Islami Chhatra Shibir activists and 12 BNP activists, the police officer said adding that they were detained to prevent possible acts of sabotage during country-wide blockade enforced by BNP-led 20 party alliance across the country.
The 5-day long hartal amid blockade ended on Thursday evening.
