A meeting on the celebration of the coming Sharadiya Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu Community was held at the Conference room of Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday.
With the chair of Deputy Commissioner the meeting discussed about various issues including overall preparatory steps and security measures for holding of the Puja in the district peacefully.
President of the district Puja celebration committee Ranjit Kumar Shaha informed the meeting that a total of 287 puja mandaps would be erected in the six upazilas of the district this year. Of the total , 86 puja mandaps would be erected in Sadar upazila,32 in polash upazila, 60 in Shibpur upazila, 38 in Monohardi upazila, 20 in Belabo upazila and 51 in Raipura upazila of the district.
The four day long puja will begin from September 30 and end on October 3 through the immersion of idols.
The meeting was addressed among others by Additional Police Super Mukhlesur Rahaman, Additional Deputy Commissioner Suriaya Begum, Narsingdi Pourashava Mayar kamruzzaman Kamrul, President of Narsingdi press club Habibur Rahman, President of puja udjapan committee Ranjit Kumar Shaha and all the president of six upazilas puja udjapan committee.
Meanwhile the artist of potteries in the district are busy to making the idol of Durga in all the six upazilas of the district.
