The government has finally decided to recruit 28,000 Assistant Teachers for registered primary schools across the country from the waiting panel.
The Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) on Thursday sent notices to all district primary education officers and district administration to take steps to appoint the assistant teachers in the primary schools nationalised in 2013, sources said.
Earlier on June 6, the DPE sent notices to the District Education officials to recruit them for the vacant posts in the schools according to the merit list. The notice placed the candidates, resulting in the new decision.
The Ministry in April 2010 issued a circular for the recruitment of assistant teachers for the then registered non-government primary schools.
Recruitment examinations were held in 2012 and a total of 42,611 candidates finally came out successful. A panel was formed to appoint the candidates and around 14,000 teachers were appointed at different times.
But further appointment from the panel was stopped after the government in January 2013 started nationalising the non-government primary schools.
The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on May 18 sent a letter to the DPE asking it to appoint the candidates in the vacant posts.
