The confirmed coronavirus cases in Chattogram has reached 6,977 as 280 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
Nine hundred and ninety-one samples were tested at five labs of Chattogram and one lab of Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday where 280 got positive results for the virus. Of the infected, 155 are from the city and 125 others from different upazilas. Most of the coronavirus infections were detected at Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases. 279 samples were tested there and out of them 74 got positive results for the virus, said Civil Surgeon of Chattogram Dr Sheikh Fajle Rabbi.
Besides, 334 samples were tested at Chattogram Medical College and Hospital where 65 coronavirus infections were detected. 54 coronavirus infections were identified from 154 samples tested at Chattogram Veterinary University lab. 3 got positive results for the virus after 4 samples were test at Cox’s Bazar Medical College lab. 15 coronavirus infections were also detected from 52 samples tested at Imperial Hospital, he said.
