With the deaths of 28 more people in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Thursday, Bangladesh’s Covid-19 death count now stands at 7,559.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, on Thursday afternoon.
During this timeline, 1,014 fresh cases were reported, taking the total virus cases to 5,13,510.
Health authorities also reported 1,398 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,57,459.
In the last 24 hours, 180 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 13,204 samples and tested 13,254.
With this, a total of 32,27,598 samples were tested in the country.
The infection rate is 7.65 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 15.91 per cent.
So far, the recovery rate is 89.08 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.47 per cent.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 18,15,161 people globally and infected 8,32,00,986 as of Thursday evening.
