At least 28 militants, who were suspected of aiding radical extremism, have been released from jail recently.Security agencies are sensing trouble following their release, saying that the militants likely could be regrouped and stage fresh terror attacks in the country, according to an intelligence report.The report, submitted to the Home Ministry, has sought its directive regarding the next course of action against the released militants. They include Sikandar Ali Noki, Omar Sharif, Abu Bakkar Siddique, Rakib Hossain, Ahsan Ullah, Ashish, Mominur Rahman, Md Sunny, Shafiqul Islam Shafiq, Raufur Rashid, Tamim Ahmed, Shafayat Jamil, Nurul Amin, Sadik Shajib and Nusrat Jahan Lipi.All these militants were released from Kashimpur jail between February and June this year after securing bails from the courts. They are the active operatives of banned militant outfits Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and Hizb ut-Tahrir, said the report.”We have given necessary directives to the law-enforcement agencies in this regard. Security agencies have been asked to keep close watch over the militants released from jail,” Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told The New Nation yesterday. He said the law-enforcement agencies are continuing crackdown on the so-called extremist groups, constraining their ability to regrouping themselves or carrying out fresh attack.But we are taking the issue seriously and giving high importance on the activities of the released militants. We remain cautious over their activities, the Home Minister said. Sikandar Naki released from jail after securing bail from the court on June 2. Hailed from Nabinagar of Brammanbaria, Naki is an active member of JMB. He has been accused in a case under Anti-Terrorism Act with Turag Police Station. Omar Sharif and Abu Bakkar, two members of the banned militant organization Hizb ut-Tahrir, have been accused in separate cases under the Anti-Terrorism Act filed with Adabor and Hazaribagh Police stations.Abu Bakkar, Omar Sharif and Rakib Hossain, other members of Hizb ut-Tahrir obtained bail on May 2.Ahsan Ullah obtained bail on April 15. A case was filed against him with Hazaribagh Police Station under Anti-Terrorism and Explosive Substances Act. Ashish, a member of Hizb ut-Tahrir, secured bail on April 16. He was accused in a case filed with the Sobujbagh Police Station under anti-terrorism act Mominur Rahman, got bail on 15 April. Rahman, also a Hizb ut-Tahrir member, was accused in a case filed against him with Khilgaon Police Station under the Anti-terrorism Act. A Hizb ut-Tahrir member, Sunny obtained bail on April 14. A case was filed against him with Sabujbagh Police Station.JMB member Shafiqul Islam got bail on April 9. Several cases were filed against him with Hazaribagh and Rampura Police stations.Raufur Rashid, a member of Hizb ut-Tahrir, was obtained bail on April 7. A case was filed against him with the capital’s Mohammmadpur Police Station. Shafayet Jamil, a member of JMB, got bail on March 31. He was an accused in a case under Anti-Terrorist Act filed with Kalabagan Police Station. Nurul Amin, another JMB member, obtained bail on March 29. A case was filed against him with Paltan Police Station. Sadik Shajib released got bail on 29 March, He was a Hizb ut-Tahrir member. A case was filed against him with the Uttara Police Station under Anti-Terrorism Act. Huji member Lipi obtained bail on Febuary 9. Police filed a case against her with Cantonment Police Station. The report said that the militants, who were released from jail, met the Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) chief Jashim Uddin Rahmani, JMB chief Moulana Saidur Rahman and an accused of August 21 granade attack Enayettulah Jewel inside the Kashimpur prison.They discussed their mission and visions, and devised plan to broaden their network thoughout the country.”Whether they are engaged in regrouping, planning, fund collections, recruiting and training after their release should be looked into,” said the report.Meanwhile, five of the released militants have already been nabbed by the law enforcement agencies.
