At least 28 houses were gutted in a fire which broke out at Tangnagar Purbeshwar Para village in Sadar upazila early Monday.
Manager of Sadar Fire Service and Civil Defence Aftab Hossain said
the fire broke out at the kitchen room of a house at about 2:30 pm
and soon engulfed 27 adjoining houses.
On information, two fire fighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after one and a half hours of frantic efforts.
The extent of losses from the fire was estimated at Tk25 lakh, the manager added.
