Police, in special drives from Thursday night to yesterday morning, arrested 28 persons, including one activist of Jamaat-e-Islami, and recovered one litre locally made liquor- from seven upazilas of the district.
Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.
During the drives, Satkhira Sadar police arrested 12 persons with one liter locally made liquor , Kalaroa police six including one activist of Jamaat-e-Islami, Tala police two, Kaliganj police three, Shyamnagar police two, Assasuni police one ,Patkelghata police one and Debhata police arrested one accused.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
The arrested were sent to jail this morning.
