Election would be held in 17 municipalities of 6 districts under Barisal Division on December 30 ( Today).
A total of 2,76,315 voters including 1,40,268 male and 1,36,047 female could cast their votes in 886 permanent and 6 temporary polling booths of 176 permanent and 6 temporary vote centers of 17 municipalities on that day.
Those municipalities are Gournadi, Banaripara, Wazirpur, Bakerganj, Muladi, Mehendiganj under Barisal district, Nalcity under Jhalakathi district, Barguna Sadar, Betagi, Patharghata under Barguna district, Pirojpur Sadar, Swarupkathi under Pirojpur district, Kalapara, Kuakata under Patuakhali district and Bhola Sadar, Borhanuddin, Daulatkha under Bhola district.
Total 60 candidates contesting for 16 out of 17 mayors as AL nominated mayor of Pirojpur municipality Habibur Rahman Malek declared as uncontested.
However, it is assumed that direct contest would be held between the candidates nominated by AL and BNP for mayor post in rest 16 municipalities.
Besides ,10 general councilors including 2 of Gournadi, 2 of Banaripara, 2 of Daulatkhan, 3 of Bhola Sadar and 1 of Bohanuddin municipalities declared as uncontested.
Six female councilors for reserved seats including one at each of Gournadi, Borhanuddin, Daulatkhan municipalities, 2 of Pirojpur Sadar and 1 of Swarupkati municipality also declared as uncontested.
Now 505 candidates for rest 143 general councilor posts, while 147 contesting for rest 45 posts of councilors reserved for females contesting in 17 municipalities.
Total risk prone vote centers assumed by law enforcers are 133 (76 percent) out of 176 vote centers in 17 municipalities assumed as risk prone.
The risk prone vote centers of 6 municipalities under election schedule are 39 out of 58 vote centers under 6 municipalities of Barisal District.
All of all 10 centers under Nalcity municipality Jhalakathi District are risk prone.
Total 17 vote centers out of 27 centers are risk-prone in 3 municipalities of Barguna district.
Twenty out of 27 centers in 2 municipalities of Pirojpur district assumed as risk prone.
In Patuakhali district 14 out of 18 vote centers are risk prone in 2 municipalities.
Total 33 out of 36 vote centers risk prone in 3 municipalities of Bhola district.
