266 houses get electricity in Panchagarh village

A total of 266 residential houses in village Bondhgaon under Atoari Upazila in Panchagarh have been switched on with electricity supply facilities fulfilling long-cherished demand of the villagers.
Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges Nazmul Hoque Prodhan switched on the newly built power supply lines ceremonially at Bondhgaon Dakhil Madrasa ground on Tuesday night as the chief guest.
Thakurgaon Polli Bidyut Samity of the Rural Electrification Board has (REB) implemented construction works of the four-kilometer long power supply lines at about Taka 53 lakh to bring the village under power supply networks.
Chairman of local Torea union Kudrat E Khuda presided over the ceremony participated by REB officials, hundreds of men, women, youths, adolescents, teachers, students, community leaders, farmers, professionals, civil society members, and local elite. Panchagarh Regional Deputy General Manager of REB Mohammad Yunus, Atoari upazila chairman Abdur Rahman, President of Atoari upazila Awami League Tauhidul Islam and its Joint Secretary Advocate Anisur Rahman attended as the special guests.
In their speeches, the speakers said that Bangladesh has already achieved tremendous success in generating power on its way to achieve complete self-reliant on electricity following various effective steps taken by the government during the past six years. Congratulating the villagers on the occasion, the chief guest suggested the concerned authorities to ensure excellent management in power supply systems to make best use of electricity reducing system loss to the minimum. He called upon the villagers for sincerely using power, utilisation of energy saving bulbs and digital metres, timely payment of electricity bills, less power consumption during peak hours and preventing illegal power connections to save electricity.
Those days are not far way now when Bangladesh would achieve its complete self-reliance on electricity through further increasing its own power generation capacity to bring every house under power supply facilities, he said.
11 police personnel awarded in Rangpur Range: Eleven police personnel of Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police received tri-monthly awards at a ceremony held today for their extra ordinary performances on different categories during the past three months.
Acting Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police Humayun Kabir distributed the awards among the police personnel of different districts under Rangpur Range at his conference room in the city as the chief guest. He distributed medals among the police members for their excellence and laudable performance in improving law and order, curbing violence, anarchy, terrorism, militancy, extortion, mugging, robbery, dacoity and murder, drug trafficking and other crimes.
Superintendents of Police (SP) from Rangpur, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Kurigram, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Dinajpur and Gaibandha districts under Rangpur Range and high police officials attended the ceremony. Superintendent of Police of Rangpur Abdur Razzaque received medal for becoming the best district under Rangpur Range in maintaining peaceful law and order situation through curbing violence and all sorts of crimes during the period.
