State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak informed that 2,600-union would come under optical fiber by 2018.
“The project would be implemented with the financial assistance of Chinese government and a lone agreement will be signed soon between Bangladesh and China to this end,” he told newsmen recently after a bilateral meeting with the delegation of EXIM Bank of China.
EXIM Bank Vice President Sun Ping led the 12-member delegation.
Palak said the project would be implemented by 2018 with an estimated cost of Taka 1,999.49 crore, while Taka 1,227 crore will come from China as assistance.
