Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a raid arrested 26 people while gambling at a place in the city’s Shiroil Bus Stand area on early Sunday.
Those arrested were identified as Rafiqul Islam Babu, 46, Uzzal Hossain, 32, Selim Reza Bishu, 32, Shofiqul Islam, 42, Shentu Mandol, 23, Abu Hena Mustofa Kamal, 47, Kazi Choton, 42, Mominur Rahman, 40, Alamgir Hossain, 30, Forman Ali, 40, Abdul Wadud, 38, Jahangir Hossain, 35, Shumon Sheikh, 26, Shahin Hossain, 36, Toshlim Uddin, 43, Abul Kalam Azad, 35, Muktar Hossain Mukta, 32, Jahangir, 40, Azizur Rahman, 33, Kowser Ali, 45, Noor Islam, 28, Khokon, 43, Shahadat Hossain Shadhu, 22, Arafat Ali, 28, Shukumar, 28, and Dipok Kumar Sarkar, 35.
A team of RAB in association with Labor Union leaders, arrested the gamblers red handed while gambling in the area.
The arrestees were later handed over to the police of Boalia police station after interrogation.
RAB recovered materials used for gambling and Tk 2 lakh 12,800 from their possession.
