Staff Reporter :At least 26 people were killed and 70 others injured in separate road accidents across the country, including Sirajganj and Rajshahi districts, on Tuesday.In Sirajganj, over nine persons were killed and nine others injured when an oil tanker rammed into a human hauler in the district’s Shahjadpur upazila.The deceased were identified as three brothers Maqbul, 47; Gafur, 38 and Jalal, 40 and his wife Anjana Khatun, 33, hailed from Boro Maharajpur village of the upazila.Besides, Firoza Khatun, 20, wife of one Rezaul; Banya, 9, daughter of one Rajab Ali; Ajufa, 60, wife of one late Surman Ali; Renu Khatun, 32, wife of one Tara Mia and human hauler driver Sobhan, 38, all hailed from the same village also were killed in the accident. OC of Hatikumrul police station Abdul Kader said: “The accident took place when a Baghabari-bound oil tanker rammed into a human hauler coming from opposite direction in Garadah area on the Bogra-Nagarbari highway around 6:30am Tuesday, leaving five people dead on the spot and 12 others injured.”Of the injured, three died on the way to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital, while four others were admitted to the hospital. Five critically injured people got admitted to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra.”Meanwhile, another man was killed and five others were injured in separate road accident in Shahjadpur Upazila in the morning. The victim has been identified as Rafiqul Islam.
