26 Ibn Sina men sent to jail

A Gazipur court has sent 26 employees of Ibn Sina Pharmaceuticals Limited to jail in a case which was filed on charge of vandalizing vehicles and setting fire to establishments in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur district.
Judicial Magistrate Najmun Nahar passed the order after a hearing in the case on Tuesday afternoon, said Rabiul Islam, Court Inspector.
The employees were shown arrested in a case of vandalizing vehicles and setting fire to establishments during the 20-party blockade program in 2015, said Motaleb Mia, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kaliakoir Police Station.
 “We have sought remand prayer with the court,” the police official said.
Earlier on Monday, the members of the Detective
Branch (DB) of Police detained 26 employees of Ibn Sina Pharmaceuticals Limited in Gazipur on charges of planning sabotage, said Gazipur Detective Branch OC Md Amir Hossain. The 12 officials and 14 security guards were arrested from the firm’s factory and the quarters at Shafipur in Kaliakoir early in the morning on Monday, the OC said.
Police, however, declined to comment on what kind of sabotage they were planning.
