Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) on Saturday recorded 17 new Covid-related deaths in 24 hours.
Of the deceased, eight were confirmed Covid patients while the remaining exhibited symptoms of the virus, said hospital director Brigadier General Shamim Yeazdani.
Of them, nine were from Rajshahi, four from Chapainawabganj and two each from Naogaon and Natore districts.
A total of 291 people have died of Covid-19 at the corona unit of RMCH in the last 26 days, according to officials.
The authorities recorded as many as 18 deaths, the highest single-day toll so far, on June 24.
Besides, 52 people have been admitted to the hospital with Covid symptoms in the past 24 hours. With the fresh cases, 431 patients are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital against 357 beds.
Of them, 293 are from Rajshahi, 56 from Chapainawabganj, 33 from Natore, 34 from Naogaon, nine from Pabna, three from Kushtia and one each from Dinajpur, Chuadanga and Dhaka.
Earlier, nine more people have died of Covid-19 at two different hospitals in Khulna in the past 24 hours, health officials said on Saturday. While seven people died at the dedicated Covid facility of Khulna Medical College, the remaining two succumbed to the virus at the private Gazi Medical College Hospital.
Khulna Corona Dedicated Hospital’s nodal person Dr Suhas Ranjan Haldar said that the seven people died in the red zone of the hospital in the past 24 hours.
On the other hand, as many as 29 new patients have been admitted to the hospital and 40 discharged after recovery in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 19 patients are currently undergoing treatment in the hospital’s ICU and another 156 in the general ward.
Gazi Mizanur Rahman, owner of Gazi Medical College Hospital, said two persons died of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.
Fortunately, no Covid deaths have been reported from Khulna General Hospital since Friday.
