An official of the Bangladesh embassy in Libya has confirmed news to the media that the bodies of 26 Bangladeshis who were killed by the abductor in Libya will be buried there at Mizda town.
Ashraful Islam, a counsellor of Labour Affairs of the embassy, informed that the process of burying the 26 bodies are underway in the Mizda town through discussions with the victims’ families.
“There is no other option, but to bury the bodies in Mizda. So it has to be obeyed, he added.
The bodies are currently in a hospital at Mizda town.
Besides, it is not possible to remove the bodies from the city of Mizda, as all international flights were closed due to the coronavirus outbreak. “For these reasons, we do not see any opportunity to hand over the bodies or send them to Bangladesh. So we have decided to bury the bodies after talking with their families, he also said.”
However, the Bangladesh government on Friday asked Libyan authorities to arrest people involved in the murder of 26 Bangladeshis and injuring 11 others and to ensure their punishment.
Earlier, a group of Libyan militias sprayed bullets on about 42 people, including 38 Bangladesh citizens, who were taken hostage for trafficking, as a Libyan was allegedly killed in a brawl between the trafficking victims and the traffickers on Thursday. The incident took place in Mizda, about 180 kilometres from Libyan capital Tripoli.
