25,605 anti-drug committees formed in educational instns

The Department of Narcotics Control has formed 25,605 anti-drug committees in educational institutions across the country aimed at curbing drug related crimes.
“The Department of Narcotics Control, Police, BGB and RAB along with other law enforcement agencies have been working to control drug related crimes following the Prime Minister’s instruction,” Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told the house here on Sunday.
The government formed 25,605 anti-drug committees in educational institutions out of 32,057 institutions, he told this in the Jatiya Sangsad, while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member Abul Kalam Azad of Jamalpur-1.
The minister said the Prime Minister adopted zero tolerance policy against drug.in 2016-17 financial year, the Department of Narcotics Control formed 3,675 anti-drug committees in educational institutions and held 6,313 anti-drug discussions, rallies and human chains, he added.
Asaduzzaman Khan also said that ministers, parliament members, public representatives, private universities, educational institutions and religious establishments involved in anti-drug campaign with participation of all walks of life in January 2017 across the country.
