Traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in their simultaneous drives on the city streets on Monday filed 2,542 cases against different modes of vehicles for traffic rule violation. It also realized Taka 19.25 lakh as fine from owners, said an official release.
Of the total cases, 233 cases were lodged for driving on wrong sides, 36 for using hydraulic horn, six for using hotter and beckon light and seven others for using tinted glass.
Some 43 cases, including 21 video cases, were registered against drivers of different modes of vehicles on charges of talking over mobile phone while they were driving.
It also dumped 34 vehicles and wrecked 729 others. Besides, 701 cases were filed against motorcycles and 81 motorbikes were seized for the traffic rule violations.
