At least 8,20,000 people have been affected by the floods in the country. In the northern districts, more than 250,000 houses have been fully or partially damaged and about 25,000 people have been displaced, said Disaster Management officials.
They added that 38 people were drowned and four were killed from snake-bite, nearly 7,400 people took shelters in 69 flood centres. More than 3,00,000 people were stranded in Shariatpur and Faridpur districts. The affected people are mainly in need of food, water and emergency shelter.
Meanwhile, road closures and flooding of Railway tracks caused sufferings to the passengers on the Daulatdia side. The sting of the flooding at the outset affected the northern districts, and it is now moving towards the south and Barisal district.
The flood situation worsened in Madaripur, Manikganj, Shariatpur districts and the capital Dhaka
Bangladesh Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) sources said the Buriganga, the Turag, the Balu, the Lakkhya rivers around Dhaka City are on a rising trend and likely to continue during the next 24 hours.
The FFWC also reports that the levels of the water in the Brahmaputra-the Jamuna, the Surma and the Kushiyara registered fall while the Ganges and the Padma rivers are in steady state.
It recorded 92. mm rain fall at Teknaf, 59 mm at Cox’s Bazar, 72 in Khulna and 58.5 in Satkhira.
The Atrai at Baghbari is flowing 21 cm above the danger level, the Dhaleswari at Elasin and Jagir 65 cm and 45 cm respectively, the Lakkhya at Narayanganj 10 cm, the Kaliganga at Taraghat 47 cm, the Padma at Goalundo 24 cm, Bhahyaku 3cm and Sureswar 25 cm, and the Titas at Brahmanbaria is flowing 28 cm above the danger level.
 Overflowing of rivers have displaced thousands of people from their homes. River levels are forecast to continue rising during the next few days. Many families are living under the open sky and there are shortages of clean water, food, medicine and fuel.
Rivers caused floods in Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Gaibandha, Jamalpur, Sirajganj and Sunamganj, Bogra, Rangpur, Nilphamari, Faridpur, Rajbari, Tangail, Madaripur, Shariatpur, Manikganj, Kushtia, Munshiganj, Chandpur and Dhaka.
It inundated crop fields and dwelling areas, washed away standing crops, houses and households assets, livestock and displaced the affected people.
