Business Desk :
There are 2,500 active start-ups in Bangladesh where 1.5 million jobs have been created, said Zunaid Ahmed Palak, state minister for ICT.
“So, we need to build a startup community to build a digital society, knowledge-based economy and an innovative Bangladesh,” he said, while speaking at an event at the Lakeshore Hotel in Dhaka yesterday.
At the event, ICT infrastructure provider Huawei launched three new competitions — ICT Incubator, App Developer and Tech Woman — to nurture the local startups and ICT talents in Bangladesh.
Palak said Bangladesh is moving forward with an aim to build a “Smart Bangladesh” from the “Digital Bangladesh”.
“For this, the government is working to create a start-up ecosystem by spreading the internet all over the country. The domestic startups are also getting a big amount of foreign investment.”
