Sadar upazila fisheries administration with the help of locals seized 250 kilograms of hilsa fry from a pickup van at Dalalbazar area and arrested one person in this connection on Tuesday. Sunil Chandra Ghosh, senior fisheries official of Sadar upazila, said the upazila fisheries administration with the help of local people seized 8 drums filled with 250 kg jatka from a Dhaka bound pickup van at Dalalbazar area on Lakshmipur-Ramganj road.
The owner of the jatka managed to flee the scene after the locals cordoned off the pickup van. But its driver Nizam Uddin was handed over to the police, Ghosh said.
Later, the seized jatka were distributed among the poor and orphans of the area.
