250 flood-hit families get relief items in Gaibandha

A total of 250 flood-hit families of Uria union and its neighbouring areas under Fulchhari upazila of the district got relief materials from Uttarbanga Janakalyan Samity (UJKS), Dkaka on Wednesday to mitigate their sufferings caused by recent floods.
In this regard, a relief distribution function was held on the premises of Ratanpur Rahmania Dakhil Madrasha of the upazila on Wednesday noon with Executive Engineer of Public Works Department (PWD) here Morshed Hossain in the chair.
Additional Chief Engineer of PWD, Rangpur Zone Md. Abdul Goffar addressed the function as the chief guest while Superintending Engineer of Rangpur PWD Circle Dewan Maududur Rahman was present as special guest.
The function was also addressed, among others, by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fulchhari thana Md Kawsar Hossain and cultural and sports secretary of UJKS SM Amzad Hossain Dipti.
Later, the sacks of relief materials were distributed to 250 flood-hit families of the upazila maintaining social distancing and other health guidelines to check coronavirus spread.
Each of the beneficiary families received a sack containing 10-kg of rice,5-kg of potato, 2-liter of soybean oil, 2-kg of pulse, 3-kg of chira, 2-kg of gur, one kilogram of salt, 10 pages of water purified tablet.
A large number of people including public representatives, social workers, local elite and journalists were present on the occasion.
The UJKS, Dhaka had taken an initiative to distribute relief materials to 3,000 flood-hit families of northern districts including Gaibandbha, Rangpur, Lalmonirhat, Bogura and Sirajganj ones aimed at reducing their sorrows caused by the recent floods.
