25 years of IELTS celebrated

British Council Bangladesh celebrated 25 years of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in a city hotel on Sunday.
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS), a popular English assessment test all over the world, has reached its 25-year milestone this year.
On the occasion, a cake was cut and the official logo for “IELTS 25” was launched at the event.
Acting Country Director, British Council Bangladesh Sanjiv Malhotra, director examinations services, South Asia Steve Adams and director examinations services, British Council Bangladesh Deep Adhikari along with other stakeholders were present at the celebration.
Representatives from media, student engagement agencies and centres that work closely with British Council exams unit, among others, were present on the occasion. Deep Adhikari took questions from the audience at the end of the event.
At the celebration function, Sanjiv Malhotra said IELTS plays a significant role in people’s education and career and British Council is a proud partner as one of the administrators in establishing this role.
Other speakers said this celebration marks the success of IELTS in Bangladesh and reinforces the contribution of British Council in this legacy.
IELTS is the world’s most popular English proficiency test for higher education and global migration. Globally, the demand for IELTS is high, including students from Bangladesh taking the test for entry to educational institutions in the United Kingdom and many other destinations.
IELTS is accepted in higher educational institutions, international employers, professional associations and governments in 135 countries around the world.
IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment.
