Flood situation worsens in Kurigram

The flood situation is worsened in Kurigram due to heavy rainfall and onrush of water from upstream for the last 5 days.
Water level of the Dharla river was flowing 34cm above danger mark at Dharla bridge point and 20cm above danger mark at Chilmari point at 3pm on Saturday, WDB officials said. Fresh areas are being inundated and about 25 thousand people are marooned.
About 10 thousand 95 hectares of Ropa Aman, Seedlings and vegetables fields went under flood water.Chairman of Hatia union parishad Abul Hossain said 1500 houses are inundated here due to increasing water in the Brahmaputra River.Chairman of Begumganj union parishad Belal Hossain said some 420 houses are inundated by flood water here.
Deputy Director of Kurigram Khamarbari agriculturist Mojurul Haque said 10thousand 95 hectares of crop land went under water. Of them, 9thousand 945 hectares of Ropa Aman,130 hectares of Vegetables and 20 hectares of seedlings.
