Authorities deployed 25 platoons of Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) across Chattogram city ahead of the upcoming Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) elections scheduled for January 27.
The BGB troops started patrolling across the city streets from Monday evening.
Confirming the matter, Deputy Commissioner (DC) (Special Branch) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Abdul Warish told the media “Following a circular by election commission regarding deployment of BGB, 25 platoons of BGB have been deployed across the city from Monday evening to January 28.”
Apart from that, around 8,000 police personnel will be deployed across the city. Around 1,500 troops are on standby for any emergency during the polls, he said.
