Barishal River Police with the help of Fisheries Department operated drives on different points of Kitankhola River and recovered 25 mounds of jatka(hilsa fry less than 10 inches in length) and detained six people on Friday for netting Jatka violating the imposed restriction.
Md. Kafiluddin, SP , Barishal District River Police, said the accused were netting hilsa in different points of Kirtonkhola River and police detaining them seized 25 mounds of Jatka from their possessions.
Dr Bimal Chandra Das, District Fishery Officer recovered jatka with detained fishermen were produced before the mobile court operated by Russell Hossain, Executive Magistrate of District Administration at afternoon.
The court awarded each of the detained six fishermen to one month imprisonment for netting Jatka defying the ban.
