Thousands of vehicles carrying Eid holidaymakers have remained stuck on Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu bridge highway due to long tailbacks from early Tuesday (July 20), causing immense and untold sufferings to passengers.
The highway is witnessing a 25-kilometre traffic jam from Bangabandhu Bridge to Ashekpur Bypass area of Tangail sadar upazila.
Such images were seen in Gharinda, Rabna, Bikramhati, Rasulpur, Pauli and Elenga areas of the highway in the morning. Although the Dhaka-bound lane is running, the North-bound vehicle is stuck. Many people are travelling on trucks at risk even though public transport is running. Besides, homebound people were not seen to follow the hygiene rules.
