At least 25 people were injured, including four with bullets, in a clash between two rival groups of two villages in Shahjadpur upazila on Sunday morning.
Quoting locals, police said people of Gopalpur and Charkoijury villages had been at
loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the upazila for long.
As a sequel to the enmity, the supporters of Gopalpur village equipped with firearms and sharp weapons attacked the men of Charkoijury village around 11:30 am, leaving 21 people injured.
On information, police hurriedly went to the spot and fired 15 shots and lobbed teargas shells to disperse the warring groups, leaving four villagers with bullet injuries.
The injured were admitted to local hospitals. Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to avert further trouble.
