At least 25 people were injured during a tripartite clash involving police, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and local Jubo League men in the district town on Friday.
Police and locals said as a team of law enforcers intercepted three motorcycles of local BCL activists, including former BCL’s district unit president Zahidul Islam Roman, in Kalibari area of the town in the afternoon for checking documents.
The clash ensued following an altercation ove
the interception. At one stage a policeman allegedly assaulted a BCL man and seized the three motorcycles. Learning about the seizure, the supporters of Roman and some local Jubo League leaders and activists rushed in and tried to block the road.
