Chittagong city and district police in a series of drives detained 11 activists of BNP-Jamaat-Shibir from five upazilas of the district on Monday night.
Naimul Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district said police detained eight activists in overnight raids at various places of Mirsarai, Sitakunda, Hathazari, Lohagara and Satkania Upazilas on Monday night to prevent possible acts of sabotage during country-wide blockade and hartal enforced by BNP-led 20 party alliance.
CMP police also detained three hartal supporters from separate area in the city yesterday.
Among the detainees, four were BNP activists, three Jamaat activists and two Islami Chhatra Shibir activists, the police officer added.
