24th School Handball Tournament begins today

The Polar Ice Cream 24th School Handball (Boys’ & Girls’) Tournament begins today. The first phase of the competition for boys will be held at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium while the first phase of the meet for girls will be taken place at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium.
Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) has arranged the handball tournament for boys and girls under auspices of Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Limited.
Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Md Asaduzzaman Mia will formally open the meet today at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Stadium as the chief guest, while CEO of Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Limited Shah Masud Imam will be with him as the special guest.
The budget of the tournament for boys is Taka five lakh thirty thousand, while the budget of the competition for girls is Taka five lakh. Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Limited, the sponsor of the handball meet has given Taka ten Lakh to BHF to run the tournament (Boys’ & Girls’) smoothly.
Marking the upcoming handball meet, a press conference was held at the office room of Bangladesh Handball Federation on Wednesday.
General Secretary of BHF Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, Head of Marketing of Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Limited Abdullah Al Mamun, Chairman of the Tournament Committee (Boys’ Group) Golam Habib, Chairperson of the Tournament Committee (Girls’ Group) Hamida Begum, Secretary of the Tournament Committee (Boys’ Group) Md Salim Mia Babu and Secretary of the Tournament Committee (Girls’ Group) Parvin Putul spoke at the conference.
A total of sixteen schools splitting into six groups are taking part in the Boys’ Group, while a number of thirteen schools dividing into four groups are competing in the Girls’ Group.
The finals will be held on April 3.
