2,478 workers of 12 tea gardens deprived of government assistance in Rajnagar of Maulvibazar.
Under the social security program of Social Services Department, the Ministry of Social Welfare has announced financial assistance of Tk 1,23,90,000 crore in the fiscal year 2017-2018 for improving the living standards of tea workers. But the workers did not get help even after the expiration.
In an emergency meeting on July 23, 2018, the concerned UP chairman, garden manager, panchayat chief, concerned union social workers prepare the list of beneficiaries.
Though the workers of all the gardens of the district get grants, the 12 garden workers in Rajnagar upazila are deprived of the grants.
Karimpur tea garden panchayat president of UpazilaÕs Aminabad said, ÒThe picture has been given, the bank account has also been opened. Four months have passed; I have not yet received the money. The authorities are only giving assurance.Ó
Rajnagar Social Services Officer Suman Debnath said, ÒThe list was delayed. Authorities have delayed the allocation. But now all the preparations are finished. Allocated money will be distributed within a few days.
