About 24 thousand chickens killed as a pickup fell into a roadside ditch at Mahilara area on Barisal-Dhaka Highway Monday morning.
Sub Inspector Saiful Islam of Gournadi highway police station, said a pickup ( Sirajganj-Da-11-0240) carrying 23,400 chickens from Gazipur Nourish Poultry and Hatchery Farm was going to Patuakhali for supplying chicken.
On Monday early morning driver of the pickup loosing control of the vehicle fell to roadside ditch.
Highway police with the help of local people recovered the pickup, but carried chickens killed due to drowning in the ditch, police officer told.
Sirajul Islam, 31, pickup driver, sustained minor injury and given first-aid, police sources said.
