Staff Reporter :Police detained at least 24 members of Tablig Jamaat on Thursday night from the city’s Kakrail Mosque on charge of irregular monetary transaction of Mosque fund. Several hundred Tablig Jamaat members staged demonstration in front of the Ramna Police Station after Jumma prayer on Friday demanding release of their arrested brethren. Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court sent them to Jail after the Ramna Police produced the arrested people there on Friday afternoon, police said. Quoting the witnesses, Ramna Police Station’s Officer-in-charge (OC) Mashiur Rahman said that police took the action based on information of irregular monetary transaction of mosque fund and the Bishwa Ijtema.The arrested men belonging to the rival groups distributed leaflets against one another and at one stage some of them confined at least 10 people. Police arrested 24 devotees from the mosque at about 10:45pm, the police official said. They were misguiding the other devotees of the Tablig Jamaat coming from across the country by spreading various types of propagandas against one another, the OC said.Police are investigating the matter, he said.
