Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard in a drive arrested 24 alleged sea pirates with eight sharp-weapons from Tenrachar area of Sandwip Upazila on Friday night.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of coast guard personnel raided the Tenrachar area at 12.30 am and arrested them while collecting toll from the fishermen, said coast guard zonal commander captain Shahidul Islam.The coast guard team also recovered eight sharp weapons (dao) from their possession.A case was filed with Sandwip thana in this connection, a sources of district police said.
