24- hr ultimatum to remove CDA Chairman

The leaders and workers of Sramik League, a front organization of the ruling party gheraoed the office of Chittagong Development Authority yesterday morning demanding removal of the present Chairman Abdus Salam.
The leaders gave 24 hours ultimatum to the concerned authority.
The contractual appointment of the present chairman expired yesterday .
The leaders chanted slogans against the Chairman Abdus Salam and chalked out a protest program on May 1 next if the chairman is not removed by the period of ultimatum. The gherao programme was continued upto 12 noon from 10 am. The leaders and workers also demanded reinstatement of the general secretary of CDA Karmachari league HabiburRahman and suspension of the transfer order immediately. Meanwhile, a group of outsiders in association of some loyal of CDA chairman stormed counter attack on the ghaerao programme . The pro-Chairman rally includes joint convenor of Sechchasebak League KB Shahjahan and Chandgaon thana Chhatra League leader Rafiqul Alam and a number of students of different school and colleges of the city , a sources said.
Centring the counter programs of anti and pro-Chairman rally, hurling stones begin between the two groups and later police interfered the matter and brought the situation under control, police sources said.
